Enterprise Storage Arrays — SAN, DAS, and All-Flash

Enterasource stocks refurbished enterprise storage arrays from Dell EMC, HPE Nimble, and NetApp — the platforms running production storage workloads at hospitals, universities, financial firms, and managed service providers. Every array ships tested with controllers verified operational, drives health-checked, and management interfaces confirmed accessible.

The storage inventory covers the full spectrum: all-flash arrays for latency-sensitive applications, hybrid flash arrays for mixed workloads, direct-attached storage (DAS) for server-attached deployments, and network-attached SAN platforms for centralized block storage. Whether you’re expanding an existing Dell EMC environment or building a new storage tier, the brands and models here are the same platforms running in production data centers today.

All arrays include a minimum 2-year Enterasource warranty. Free shipping to the lower 48 states. Contact us for configurations not listed — we frequently have unlisted inventory available.

Enterprise Storage Technologies: What to Choose

Enterprise storage platforms differ in architecture, connectivity, and workload optimization. The right choice depends on your existing infrastructure, performance requirements, and whether you need centralized block storage or direct-attached capacity.

SAN vs DAS: Block Storage Architecture Basics

A Storage Area Network (SAN) presents storage to servers over a dedicated network — Fibre Channel, iSCSI, or NVMe-oF — so multiple servers can share the same storage pool. Dell Compellent (SC Series), Dell EqualLogic (PS Series), and HPE Nimble Storage are SAN platforms. They provide centralized storage management, shared pools, snapshots, replication, and tiering. SANs are appropriate for VMware datastores, SQL Server clusters, Oracle databases, and any workload that requires centralized data management and high availability.

Direct-Attached Storage (DAS) connects directly to a single server via SAS, SATA, or NVMe. Dell PowerVault ME-series is a DAS platform (though some models support iSCSI SAN connectivity). DAS provides simpler management, lower cost, and predictable performance for single-server workloads, backup targets, and storage expansion for specific servers.

All-Flash vs Hybrid Flash vs HDD Arrays

Storage Type Media Latency Best For Example Models
All-Flash SSD only Sub-1ms Databases, VDI, high-IOPS workloads Nimble AF-series, Compellent SC4020 (SSD tier)
Hybrid Flash SSD + HDD 1-5ms (cached) Mixed workloads, VMware, file serving Nimble HF-series, Compellent SC5020, EqualLogic PS-series
HDD HDD only 5-15ms Backup, archive, cold storage, bulk capacity Dell PowerVault MD-series, ME4 HDD configs

Enterprise Storage Brands We Carry

HPE Nimble Storage arrays are built around InfoSight predictive analytics and a hybrid or all-flash architecture. The HF-series hybrid arrays and AF-series all-flash arrays share a common controller platform and management interface. Nimble’s guaranteed 99.9999% availability (six nines) and InfoSight’s predictive issue detection make it one of the most operationally reliable storage platforms in the refurbished market.

Dell Compellent (SC Series) delivers automated data tiering that moves data between SSD, SAS, and NL-SAS tiers based on access patterns. SC-series arrays are widely deployed in mid-enterprise and healthcare environments and remain in active production use at many organizations. With 1,000 monthly searches and low competition, Compellent represents a significant opportunity for organizations sourcing replacement or expansion hardware.

Dell EqualLogic (PS Series) is iSCSI SAN storage built on an auto-tiering, peer-storage architecture. PS-series arrays use IP-based storage networking (no Fibre Channel switches required), making them accessible deployments for organizations without FC infrastructure. EqualLogic is end-of-life but remains extensively deployed in production.

Dell PowerVault provides direct-attached and simple SAN storage in the ME-series (ME4, ME5) and legacy MD-series. PowerVault ME-series connects via SAS DAS or iSCSI SAN, with 12G SAS connectivity on ME4 and 32G FC / 25GbE iSCSI on ME5.

What types of enterprise storage does Enterasource carry?
Enterasource stocks SAN arrays (HPE Nimble HF/AF, Dell Compellent SC-series, Dell EqualLogic PS-series) and DAS arrays (Dell PowerVault ME4/ME5, MD-series). We carry all-flash, hybrid flash, and HDD configurations depending on model availability.
Do refurbished storage arrays come with a warranty?
Yes. All storage arrays include a minimum 2-year Enterasource warranty covering controller and hardware failures. Extended options up to 5 years are available. Contact us for warranty details on specific models.
Can I buy additional drives or expansion shelves for my storage array?
Yes — we stock compatible expansion shelves and drives for most platforms. Browse storage components or contact us with your array model and expansion requirements.
