Enterprise-Grade Servers, Tested and Ready to Deploy

Enterasource stocks a deep inventory of refurbished and used servers from Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, and Supermicro — the same enterprise platforms running production workloads at universities, managed service providers, and businesses across North America. Whether you're looking to buy a single server for a branch office or source a rack of compute nodes for a virtualization cluster, you'll find it here, configurable to your specification.

Every system is tested to enterprise standards before listing: power-on tested, drive health verified, memory validated, and iDRAC or iLO confirmed operational. We stock 1U rack servers, 2U general-purpose servers, high-density storage servers, tower servers, and blade chassis across multiple generations of enterprise platforms.

All systems ship free via ground to the lower 48 states. In-stock servers ordered before 2PM EST ship same day. Every server carries a minimum 2-year warranty, with options up to 5 years depending on the platform and configuration.

Choosing the Right Used or Refurbished Server

Enterprise computer servers are engineered for continuous operation under full load — they tolerate the kind of sustained stress that would destroy consumer hardware in months. When properly tested and refurbished, these systems offer the same reliability as new at 60-80% lower cost. Understanding what you need before you buy is straightforward once you know which variables matter: form factor, generation, processor platform, and memory configuration.

Why Buy a Refurbished Enterprise Server

The cost argument is direct: a refurbished Dell PowerEdge R640 with dual Xeon Gold CPUs, 256GB RAM, and a configured RAID array costs a fraction of what the same system sold for when new. The performance argument is equally direct — a 14th generation Intel Xeon Scalable server benchmarks identically whether it left Dell's factory last year or four years ago. What you save goes into more RAM, more storage capacity, or more nodes.

Environmental considerations matter to more procurement teams each year. Extending the working life of enterprise hardware by 5-10 years represents a measurable reduction in manufacturing emissions. Every refurbished server that ships from our warehouse is one less system in a landfill.

Form Factor Guide: Rack, Tower, and Blade

Form Factor Best For Example Models
1U Rack High-density compute, colocation, edge deployments Dell R640, R650, R660; HPE DL360
2U Rack General-purpose, virtualization, storage-heavy workloads Dell R740, R750, R760; HPE DL380
Tower Remote offices, branch locations, wiring closets Dell T440, T640, T550; HPE ML350
Blade High-density compute with shared infrastructure Dell PowerEdge M640, HPE BL460c

Server Brands We Carry

Dell PowerEdge is the most widely deployed enterprise server platform in North America. We stock 14th through 16th generation models including R-series rack servers and T-series towers. Dell's iDRAC9 remote management, Lifecycle Controller, and OpenManage ecosystem make PowerEdge the standard choice for operations teams who need visibility and control across large fleets.

HPE ProLiant DL-series and ML-series servers are the primary alternative for organizations standardized on HPE infrastructure. Gen 8 through Gen 10 systems are in stock, all with iLO remote management and SmartArray RAID controllers. The DL360 and DL380 are the most commonly deployed 1U and 2U HPE platforms respectively.

Supermicro systems are available for open-standard deployments, hyperscale-style builds, and environments where OEM lock-in is a concern. Supermicro's IPMI-based remote management and broad PCIe expandability make these popular for HPC and storage-heavy configurations.

Generation Guide: Which Platform Is the Value Sweet Spot?

For most buyers, 14th generation Dell PowerEdge (R640, R740, R740xd) is the best price-to-performance ratio. These systems run Intel Xeon Scalable (1st and 2nd gen) processors, DDR4 memory, and PCIe Gen 3 — fully capable of running VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, SQL Server, and most other production workloads. 14th gen is mature, parts are readily available, and pricing is highly competitive.

15th generation systems (R650, R750) bring 3rd Gen Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake) processors, DDR4 at 3200 MT/s, and PCIe Gen 4 — a meaningful upgrade for workloads that saturate PCIe bandwidth or need higher core counts and improved per-core performance.

16th generation servers (R660, R760) are the most current Dell platform — DDR5 memory up to 8TB, PCIe Gen 5, and 4th/5th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Refurbished 16th gen keeps you on the current platform roadmap while delivering significant savings vs. new list pricing.

What does Enterasource's testing process include?
Every server is power-on tested, stress-tested under load, storage media health-checked (SMART data verified, bad sectors remediated), memory validated with diagnostic passes, and all management interfaces (iDRAC/iLO) confirmed functional. Systems with drive, memory, or board failures are repaired before listing.
What is the difference between a refurbished and a used server?
A used server has simply changed hands — condition and testing are unknown. A refurbished server has been inspected, tested, cleaned, repaired as needed, and certified by a qualified technician. All servers sold by Enterasource are refurbished by our technicians before listing — not sold as raw used hardware.
Do refurbished servers come with an operating system?
Most servers ship without an OS unless specified. We configure iDRAC/iLO and BIOS to deployment-ready defaults. You can provision via PXE, USB, or iDRAC virtual media with your preferred OS or hypervisor.
Can I configure a server to my exact specs before ordering?
Yes. Use the Configure to Order option on any server listing to select your CPU count, memory size, storage configuration, RAID controller, power supply redundancy, and rail kit. Our technicians build to your specification before shipping.
What warranty comes with a refurbished server?
All servers include a minimum 2-year warranty. Extended options up to 5 years are available. Warranty covers parts and labor for hardware failures; next-business-day replacement is available on select configurations.
